Introduction for PolyVinylChloride(PVC)


PolyVinylChloride (PVC) is the world’s third most widely produced plastic after polypropylene and polyethylene. Cheap, durable, rigid and easy to assemble, it is widely used in construction where cost and risk of corrosion limit the use of metal. Its’ flexibility can be enhanced with the addition of plasticizers, making it suitable for a wide variety of applications, ranging from upholstery and clothing to garden hoses and cable insulation.
Rigid PVC is a strong, stiff, low cost plastic material that is easy to fabricate and easy to bond using adhesives or solvents. It is also easy to weld using thermoplastic welding equipment. PVC is frequently used in the construction of tanks, valves, and piping systems.
Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) is a flexible or rigid material that is chemically nonreactive. PVC offers excellent corrosion and weather resistance. It has a high strength-to-weight ratio and is a good electrical and thermal insulator. The most widely used member of the vinyl family, PVC may be cemented, welded, machined, bent and shaped readily.
